The Annual Memorial Tournament began in May 2006 to honour individuals who played or helped in the League.  This was initiated and began after Art Wade, one of the original league players, died three weeks after his cancer diagnosis.  He was known as a role model for his dedication to service in his community.

It has been held annually ever since, except for the COVID years (2020, 2021), and 2023 when it was cancelled due to very poor air quality.

As the league has evolved and expanded over the 30+ years, the recognition of those who have passed will take place at ESSA’s Annual General Spring Meeting.
